TrusLen is a privacy-focused app monitoring tool that helps you understand which apps access your device's sensitive resources like camera, microphone and location. This privacy policy explains how TrusLen handles your data.

Our Privacy Commitment

What We DON'T Do

• ❌ We do NOT track your app usage patterns or behavior
• ❌ We do NOT sell or share your data with third parties
• ❌ We do NOT include advertising or analytics SDKs
• ❌ We do NOT require account creation or personal information

What We DO

• ✅ All monitoring data stays 100% on your device
• ✅ Data is stored locally in an encrypted database
• ✅ You can export or delete your data at any time
• ✅ Open and transparent about permissions we request

Data Collection and Storage

Local Data Storage

TrusLen stores the following information locally on your device only:

1. App Usage Events: Which apps run in foreground/background, timestamps
2. Permission Access Events: When apps access camera, microphone, or location (timestamps only)
3. Trial Status: Trial start date and unlock status (encrypted using Android Keystore)

Storage Method: All data is stored in a local Room database on your device. Trial information is encrypted using Android's EncryptedSharedPreferences with hardware-backed encryption.

Retention: Data is retained until you manually delete it or uninstall the app.

Data We Never Collect

• The content of your communications (calls, messages, emails)
• Specific locations or location history
• Audio or video recordings
• Network packet contents or URLs visited
• Personal identifying information
• Passwords or authentication credentials

Permissions Explained

Required Permissions

Usage Stats Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS)

• Purpose: Monitor which apps run in foreground/background
• Data Access: App names, package names, usage timestamps
• Storage: Local device only
• Why Required: Core functionality - cannot monitor apps without this permission

Notification Listener (Optional)

• Purpose: Detect when apps access camera/microphone via system notifications
• Data Access: System notification titles (e.g., "Camera in use")
• NOT Used For: Reading your personal notifications
• Storage: Local device only

Internet Permission (INTERNET)

• Purpose: Google Play Billing for the $0.99 unlock purchase only
• Data Transmitted: Payment transaction details to Google Play (handled by Google)
• NOT Used For: Sending your monitoring data anywhere

Why These Permissions Are Necessary

TrusLen needs these permissions to fulfill its core purpose: monitoring app behavior. Without these permissions, the app cannot function. However, we use them responsibly:

• We only collect metadata (timestamps, app names)
• We never inspect content (messages, locations, network packets)
• All data stays on your device

Third-Party Services

TrusLen integrates with Google Play Billing only, for processing the $0.99 one-time unlock payment.

Google Play Billing

• Purpose: Process one-time payment for unlocking full features
• Data Shared: Payment transaction information (handled by Google)
• Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
• Data Control: Google processes payment data according to their privacy policy

We do NOT integrate:

• Analytics services (Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, etc.)
• Advertising networks
• Crash reporting services
• Social media SDKs
• Any other third-party data collection services

Data Security

Security Measures

1. Local Storage: All monitoring data stored in encrypted database on device
2. Trial Encryption: Trial status encrypted using Android Keystore (hardware-backed when available)
3. No Cloud Sync: No data transmitted to remote servers
4. No Account System: No passwords to leak, no accounts to compromise
5. Code Obfuscation: Release builds use R8/ProGuard to protect app logic

What This Means

• Your data cannot be accessed by us (the developers) because it never leaves your device
• Even if TrusLen's servers were compromised, your monitoring data would be safe (because we don't have servers collecting your data)
• Your data is protected by Android's security model and your device lock screen

Your Rights and Controls

Data Control

You have complete control over your data:

• View All Data: Access your complete monitoring history in the app
• Filter Data: Filter by app, event type, or time period
• Export Data: Export your data for personal use or analysis
• Delete Data: Clear all monitoring data at any time from Settings
• Uninstall: Deleting the app removes all stored data permanently

Trial and Unlock Information

• Trial Duration: 7 days from first launch
• Trial Reset: Clearing app data resets trial (you lose all monitoring data)
• Unlock Status: Stored encrypted on device, verified via Google Play Billing

Children's Privacy

TrusLen is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data to TrusLen (which would only be stored locally), please uninstall the app to remove all data.

Changes to Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. Changes will be posted here with an updated "Last Updated" date.

Material Changes: If we ever change our core privacy commitment (e.g., adding remote data collection), we will notify users prominently in the app and require explicit consent.

Legal Compliance

If you're in the EU/EEA, you have additional rights:

• Right to Erasure: You can delete all data in Settings
